THE INFORMATION CONTAINED ON THIS WEBSITE IS INTENDED TO SHOW
YOU THE BENEFITS OF FEEDING YOUR PETS THE WAY THAT NATURE INTENDED.
I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE WITH YOU MY STORY OF HOW I DISCOVERED NATURAL FEEDING AND ALSO SOME GREAT SUCCESS STORIES FROM SOME OF MY CUSTOMERS.
How did I come across (Barf Diet) or Raw Feeding?
I was reading Dog’s Today magazine (December 2006) and came across an article about Pet Smile Week (Vet Smile Week). I found it very interesting to read that most pet dogs and cats have extremely bad dental health which in turn leads to many other health issues. The article went on to tell us the pros and cons of natural feeding as promoted by UK Raw Meaty Bones Support and Action Group. This, I found, very interesting and wanted to find out more.
I went on to research this diet on the internet and was more and more hooked on the idea of changing my three pet dogs to it.
I thought my biggest hurdle would be to get my husband to agree to it:
(men don't like change!)
He was concerned about the cost at first but, he was very good and he listened to all of the pros and cons. He soon realised that it was cheaper than feeding them commercial dog food an he agreed that our dogs would benefit from the change so we decided to take the plunge.
My dogs: At that time we were the proud owners of three dogs:-

Dana, a 11 year old cross breed. She had always been fed on dry food since I rehomed her 10 years previous from a rescue centre. She didn’t seem to be able to tolerate any other food. She was always sick if fed canned dog food and to be honest she was often sick even on her dry dog food. She was fed Bakers for the later part of her dry food feeding days and was very overweight. She suffered from arthritis and didn’t have the energy or enthusiasm to go out even for the shortest of walks.

Lucy, a 3 year old Yorkshire Terrier (terrorist). Lucy was given to us. She is a bit of a nutter and at the time of switching I believed that her behaviour could be diet related and therefore felt the switch would be beneficial to her. We have since found out she has a medical condition which will not be cured by diet, but she loves her new diet anyway.
Jack , a 3 year old Jack Russell. He came to us through his previous owner not being able to keep him any longer. We brought him home in the Easter of 2006. He has always been very active and had no real health problems as far as we are aware.
Making the change:
Lucy was always a very fussy eater. Many meal times she would not eat her food. I would get quite frustrated trying to find food she would eat. I would but the small tins of dog food, pouches, tinned tuna, etc. She has always been very small and skinny but that is probably due to her hyperactivity and we always worried that she was completely under nourished.
Well, the day we changed we decided to just go for it and take the plunge. I have never looked back since. Lucy amazed us. She tucked into her new diet as if she had never eaten before. She loved to eat the chicken wings, and although it took her some time she always finished them.
Dana, loved her new diet. It gave her a new lease of life. She lost some weight and she started to enjoy going out for walks again. She stopped being sick and she looked fantastic.
Sadly we had to have her put to sleep in November 2007 due to a malignant tumour. Due to her age we decided it would not be fair to put her through the distress of having an operation to remove it. But we strongly believe that if we had not switched her to the natural diet she would not have lived that long and her quality of life would not have been so good. We are just very sorry that we had not discovered this way of feeding before.
Jack loves his food. He loves nothing more than tucking into a nice juicy bone. Unfortunately for him he seems to put on weight very easily and so we do have to be careful with how many he can have.
I will never go back to feeding my dogs commercial pet food. I have read and also seen for myself the huge benefits that natural feeding brings to our pets.
I will add more stories as they come to me. If you have a story you wish to share, please email me and I will add it to my website.
Spread the word to other pet owners, hopefully together we can give our companions a better future.
Thank you for reading my story.
